A Warm Welcome to Our Esteemed Guests

Maphlix Agricultural Training Institute recently had the honor of hosting Ghana’s Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, alongside the Deputy Minister, Hon. John Setor Dumelo, for a comprehensive tour and facility inspection of our institute’s farms. This visit marked a significant milestone in our journey towards agricultural excellence, as it showcased our commitment to sustainable farming and the development of the agricultural sector in Ghana.

Upon their arrival, the Minister and his delegation were warmly welcomed by the leadership team of Maphlix Agricultural Training Institute, including our Founder and Director, Dr. Felix Kamassah, faculty members, and students. The visit began with an introductory meeting where the Institute’s vision, mission, and ongoing projects were discussed. The Minister expressed his enthusiasm for the role Maphlix is playing in advancing agriculture in Ghana, particularly in areas such as capacity building, sustainable farming practices, and youth empowerment.

Touring the Facilities and Farms

The highlight of the visit was the tour of Maphlix’s expansive training farms and facilities. The Minister and Deputy were taken on a guided tour, which included:

Crop Production Fields: Our visitors were shown the wide variety of crops grown at Maphlix, including maize, cassava, tomatoes, and other cash crops. The Minister was particularly impressed with our use of modern farming techniques such as precision agriculture, which has helped increase crop yields while maintaining sustainability.

Sustainable Farming Practices: As part of our commitment to eco-friendly agriculture, Maphlix is a strong advocate for sustainable farming practices. The tour included a visit to our organic farming unit, where we demonstrated our composting methods, water conservation techniques, and soil health initiatives. The Minister noted the importance of such practices, especially in the context of climate change and food security.

During the tour, the Minister and Deputy Minister took time to interact with both students and faculty members. They engaged in discussions about the programs offered at Maphlix, the challenges faced by students, and how the government can support institutions like ours to continue producing skilled agricultural professionals.

Many students shared their personal experiences, explaining how Maphlix has equipped them with the skills and confidence to pursue careers in agriculture. The Minister praised the institute for its hands-on training approach, stating, “Institutions like Maphlix are critical to the future of agriculture in Ghana.
